Yash’s Toxic Cools Off on Day 2 with ₹36.4 Cr After a Monster Opening

After tearing up the box office on Day 1 with a staggering ₹101.10 crore net haul, Yash’s highly anticipated action drama Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups experienced a sharp Reality check on its second day. The Geetu Mohandas directorial saw a 64% drop in collections, pulling in ₹36.40 crore net across all languages in India on Thursday.

While a second-day drop is standard after a massive mid-week opening, the steep decline points to mixed audience word-of-mouth taking an immediate toll on footfalls.

The Two-Day Tally

Despite the Thursday slowdown, Toxic has comfortably crossed major milestones in record time:

● India Net Total (2 Days): ₹137.50 crore

● India Gross Total (2 Days): ₹164.50 crore

● Worldwide Gross (2 Days): ₹190.75 crore (nearing the ₹200 crore mark globally)

Hindi Belt Leads the Charge

Interestingly, the film is performing stronger in its Hindi dubbed version than in its home Kannada market. On Day 2, the Hindi belt contributed ₹23.00 crore, while the Kannada version brought in ₹8.50 crore. The Telugu markets added ₹3.00 crore, with Tamil and Malayalam rounding out the rest.

Occupancy rates across theaters dropped from an aggressive 54.4% on Day 1 to around 25.7% on Thursday as weekday work schedules kicked in.

The Weekend Outlook

The initial buzz driven by Yash’s star power delivered a historic opening day, but critics and audiences have offered divided views on the film’s intense violence and narrative pacing.

Trade analysts are watching closely to see how Toxic holds up over the upcoming extended weekend. With no major new competition stepping up in the coming days, the film has a clear runway to rebound on Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday. If evening and night shows bounce back, Toxic should breeze past the ₹250 crore global gross mark before Monday.
